Chat is live
Added a real-time chat room to the site, built on Cloudflare Durable Objects.
The idea of having a chat room on the site had been floating around for a while. Something low-key and chill, no accounts, no feeds, no permanence, just a little space where anyone on the site can drop a message and talk to whoever else is around at the time.
The kind of thing that makes a site feel like a place rather than a page.
What finally pushed it over the line was this video.
After watching it I went to work and built the thing the next week.
It runs with Cloudflare Workers using Durable Objects to hold the WebSocket connections and broadcast messages to everyone online in real time.
No accounts, no sign-ups, just show up and say hello! :)
